About me

My name is Katie and I'm an artist/illustrator from St. Albert, Alberta (a small city in the greater Edmonton region). I create my pieces in my home studio using a mix of traditional and digital painting techniques (with no AI—check out my YouTube channel for tutorials and behind-the-scenes views of my process).

My art practice is my safe space where I can embrace unadulterated wonder and joy—the tools that help me find value and purpose in our increasingly scary and complicated world. A few of the themes I explore in my work are vulnerability, mindfulness, self-compassion, and appreciation for nature.

Fun Gal Studio is my independent art and stationery shop—owned and operated soley by me—where I sell my artwork in formats of all kinds, from original pieces to printed works. Some of my products are made by hand in my home studio, while others I print with the help of bigger production companies. I use local businesses and purchase eco-friendly materials for my products and packaging wherever possible. My shop name was born out of a combination of 2 of my favourite things: puns and mushrooms. I also like to think I'm a pretty ~fun gal~ : )

Outside of my art practice, I spend a lot of my time outside with my amazing husband Kelsey and our two dog children, Penny & Parker. My other hobbies include cooking/baking, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, reading, singing, dancing, and playing piano. When I'm not behind my desk you might find me onstage playing keys for Kaeley Jade! More recently I've also become a pickleball fanatic—how do you not love a sport with "pickle" right in the name?

I am so grateful you have stopped by my website—if you want to see more from me, you can find the links to my socials here or at the bottom of this page.

All the best,
Katie xoxo
